Welcome to Module 11: Examining Ways of Teaching Writing
So far, we have covered a lot of information about teaching English Learners. Each module has built upon the previous one with the aim of deepening your understanding about teaching ELs in your classroom. So far, we have focused on three of the four domains of language - Listening, Speaking, and Reading In this module, we will be exploring a variety of methods and strategies that will be helpful for you as you focus on the fourth component - Writing.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
Explain the stages of the writing process
Describe how writers develop in English.
Explain ways writing writing is taught through writer's workshop.
Articulate the difference between editing & revising.
Distinguish a beginning, intermediate, advanced, or advanced high EL writer.
Analyze student writing using the Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLD) for writing in Texas (TELPAS).
Integrate writing strategies effective for students with diverse English proficiency ratings.

Read: Chapter 9 page 233 in your Wright textbook. This is a very important chapter.
Collaborate: Understanding of the different levels of proficiency of ELs related to writing in a writing analysis activity.
