M5: Getting Started

Overview

Welcome to Module 5: Exploring ELPS/TELPAS

Now that you have learned about first and second language acquisition and theorists. In this module, we are going to learn more about how ELPS and TELPAS interacts with lesson planning. 

In the next module, you will be able to understand how TELPAS test connects with ELPS.  I will be going over this connection in our zoom meeting on Wednesday.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify where and how to implement ELPS with the composite scoring from TELPAS.

In order to successfully complete Module 5, please do the following:

  1. Bring: Both ELPS (Chapter 74.4) and Special population (chapter 89) for zoom meeting on Wednesday.  You can find ELPS (chapter 74.4) in the Module Welcome - Official Course Syllabus.  Special Populations (chapter 89), you will find in the TEA website.  
  2. Review: We will go over these two documents on Wednesday and the next module connection between TELPAS-ELPS.
  3. Engage: Participate in class discussions via Zoom.
  4. Wrap Up and Complete: Submit your reflection paper.
