M4: Chomsky's Innate Theory

What is language and how do we acquire it?  Linguists have been puzzling over this question for centuries.  There are various theories about it, one that is popular these days is called innatism by Noam Chomsky.  This video (less than 2 minutes long) explains his theory and what it means for us as language learners.

What does it mean that we are "hard wired" to learn language?  What might this mean for us as language teachers?  We will discuss this idea and some other theories in our Zoom class this week.
