Altering Styles in the Styles Menu
At times, you will not want to use the default styling that Word provides for headings. You can create custom header styling using the style menu or you can update the style based on the formatting in your document.
Steps for Altering Styles from your Document
- Highlight the header text
- Select the desired heading style from the style menu
- Right-click on the desired heading level and select "update heading to match selection" with a left-click.
Once you select this option, all headings of the selected level will use the updated styling.
Modifying Existing Heading Styles in the Styles Menu
- Right click the heading you want to modify
- Select Modify
- Modify whatever features you like while keeping them WCAG compliant
As long as the style you are modifying started off as a heading, it will remain a heading with the updated formatting.
Mac Users
