Text and Font Style
Font size and style can have an affect on the readability of your document. The following are best practices related to font options:
- Avoid serif fonts if the document will be widely used in a digital format.
- Examples of accessible font styles are Tahoma, Calibri, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, and Times New Roman.
- Default your documents to font size 11 or 12 for normal text.
- Do not use font sizes below 11pt as users with low-vision may have trouble focusing on the text.
- Make use of the bold and italic font styles instead of using color to emphasize text. Using only color for emphasis makes it difficult for users who are color blind to fully understand your message.
