How to Create and Evaluate Links in Adobe Acrobat

Link Creation Process

  1. Select the text you want to link.
  2. Right click the text selection and click Create link.
  3. Select the values you prefer in the Link Appearance options.
  4. Ensure that under Link Action, the Open a web page radio button is selected.
    1. Choose another option if your link is not going to a web page.
  5. Select Next to proceed to the Edit URL dialog.
  6. Enter the desired web link/URL and click Ok.
  7. Repeat these steps for each link you want to create in your document.

This method will create the correct tag structure for an accessible link, but you may want to evaluate the structure to ensure the following:

  1. Ensure the link text is a child of the Link tag.
  2. Ensure the Link-OBJR is a child of the Link tag.

The order of the textual content and Link - OBJR is not important. Once this step is complete, test that your link is keyboard accessible and activates the correct link destination.
