Exporting from Library Databases

 endnote20image.jpg

  • From the library homepage, search the library databases as normal.
  • When you find a record you would like to add to your EndNote library, look for the database's export function.
    • Each database puts this function in a different place and gives it a different name. You may find this function under the headings Export, Import, Download, Cite, or something else.
    • If you need help locating the Export function in a database, Ask a Librarian!
  • The screenshot below shows the Export function in the Start Your Research database, which is located in the right sidebar. This will be the same in any other EBSCO database, such as ERIC, PsycINFO, or AGRICOLA.
  • Select the download option that references either EndNote specifically or RIS format. RIS is a file format that is used by most library databases and can be imported into many citation managers.
    • Some databases will export records in a different format, which may require a different import method.
  • When the file is downloaded, use one of the import methods on the following pages.
  • NOTE: Records exported from library databases do not include PDF attachments. This function is disabled because of IT security concerns. Instead, you can use the Find Full Text function to attach open access PDFs that are available online or manually attach PDFs downloaded from the databases.
