Syncing

  • Syncing between your Desktop and Web libraries has several benefits.
    1. EndNote Web provides a backup of your library data in case something happens to your computer.
    2. Syncing your accounts allows you to access and modify your library while you're away from the computer that has EndNote Desktop installed. You can add, modify, and organize records in your EndNote Web account, and the changes will be reflected in your Desktop library the next time you sync.
    3. Syncing is required in order to share groups or libraries
    4. You must sync your Web account to the Desktop software at least once in order to upgrade your account to the Premium version. This will give you unlimited storage space and access to more citation styles.
  • In order to sync, you will need to create an EndNote Web account.
  • From your EndNote Desktop software, click on the Sync button in the menu bar (the Sync icon is a circle made up of two arrows).
  • Log in using your EndNote Web account's email address and password.
  • After a successful login, your library will begin to sync. The software's default settings initiate a sync every time you open or close the software.
